December 31 - today is one of the most memorable and glorious days in the history of the Azerbaijani people - the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis!
The foundation of this day was laid in 1989 with the destruction of the Azerbaijani border between the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan and Iran (USSR-Iran border). The long- awaited march of the Azerbaijani nation on both sides of the Araz - the demolition of the border posts between North and South Azerbaijan, the motto of this Thai nation to unite day and night on the banks of the Araz for weeks to revive the fact that Azerbaijanis are one nation. It was an attempt to unite Azerbaijan. Solidarity Day is a symbolic sign of this desire to unite.
On December 16, 1991, the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Heydar Aliyev, taking into account the importance of creating a union of world Azerbaijanis, declared December 31 the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis. Later, this initiative gained the support of the central government, and now all Azerbaijanis officially celebrate this day as a holiday.
The Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis is a symbolic day of the slogan of unity of the Azerbaijani nation. This holiday plays an important role in establishing relations, unity and solidarity with more than 50 million Azerbaijanis living in more than 70 countries around the world. The celebration of the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis has become a necessity and a spiritual need for Azerbaijanis all over the world. Solidarity Day has become the most important holiday for the Azerbaijani diaspora. Now the Day of Solidarity is celebrated not only by Azerbaijanis, but also by representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora who were born and raised in Azerbaijan.
